Rabbi Belgrad teaches in the Jewish Studies department where he focuses on Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) and Modern Jewish Thought. In this, his fifteenth year at RZJHS, he’ll teach the sophomore course “Big Ideas in Judaism” (Tanakh) and the senior “Quest for Meaning in Modern Jewish Thought,” which he’s taught in every year since he began. He also brings tefillot to life with his gift of music, co-leading a Multi-Media Minyan and Friday morning community-wide tefillot.
Rabbi Belgrad served in three congregations over the course of a thirty-six year pulpit career that ended last year. He also created a program titled “Getting to God” which offered adults a weekend opportunity to reflect on issues of faith and doubt. His retirement from the pulpit has given him time to write and he currently is writing a play titled “Give Us a King,” based on the biblical narratives of Samuel, Saul and David.
