Academics
We are learners.
Rochelle Zell Jewish High School is a college preparatory program that combines a rigorous general studies education with a comprehensive Jewish studies education. Subject areas are integrated to enable students to develop their critical thinking skills and experience the secular world from the perspective of Jewish values and practices.
Rochelle Zell integrates the Jewish Studies curriculum with the sciences, humanities, and the arts. The learning environment emphasizes creativity and critical thinking in both general and Jewish studies classes and the ability to question is embraced. We focus on developing the critical thinking skills that are necessary to excel in all areas of study – from the arts and humanities to the analysis of Talmud. Classes provide the tools to access the best of secular and Jewish knowledge and culture and integrate them into productive and meaningful lifestyles.
Students take General Studies classes with their grade-level peers. RZJHS makes Talmud and Torah studies accessible to all students, whether students have previous experience at a Jewish day school or come to us from public school.
Rochelle Zell prides itself on its distinguished faculty and selects educators who are among the finest in their respective fields. As full partners in the learning process, teachers and students communicate regularly inside and outside the classroom.
Teachers at Rochelle Zell come to know their students as multi-dimensional human beings. The close relationships that form between them contribute to students’ confidence in their abilities to advocate for themselves and for others, in college and beyond.
